Die Components

When the pipe bending die mainly includes a bending die, clamping section, clamping die, guide die, anti-wrinkle die, and mandrel, an anti-wrinkle die and mandrel are usually required.

If you are processing solid bar stock, smaller diameter pipes, or thicker wall pipes, you can simplify the die structure appropriately.

Die Material Selection Based on Pipe Material

For processing ordinary carbon steel or aluminum pipes, 45# steel usually balances cost and service life; for processing thick-walled stainless steel pipes and alloy pipes, it is recommended to choose 42CrMo, which has better wear resistance and impact resistance; for titanium alloys and high-hardness materials, Cr12 can be considered.

Die selection should not be based solely on the lowest price. When your production volume is large and the pipe hardness is high, using more wear-resistant materials, although with higher initial costs, can reduce frequent mold changes, dimensional drift, and downtime for maintenance. Vacuum hardening can also be performed on easily worn parts of the mold to further extend its service life.

High-quality pipe bends should have a surface free of cracks, obvious dents, and scratches, and the inner side of the bend should not wrinkle.
